Hello Spring Dresser

Doesn't feel much like Spring here. In fact, it's supposed to snow tomorrow. Are you kidding me? Thought it was some cruel April Fools joke the weather guy decided to play....wishful thinking. Since it's so not Spring like here, I decided to paint this a bring on Spring, sunny, happy color.


It was in nice shape except for a couple of minor veneer issues and a piece of molding torn off. I pulled the intact piece off and naturally saved it for some other future find..


There was also a buckling drawer issue that I didn't notice until I got it home. This was replaced w/ a new piece of plywood.

I didn't prime because I planned to distress it quite a bit and didn't want the white primer to show through. Instead, I sanded it a little more heavily to give the paint something to grab on to. I sanded the original stain off the top and restained w/ Minwax dark walnut.


Isn't the wood grain on this beautiful?

And here is the happy, sunny, wish it was 70 degrees yellow dresser...

Blue and White Mosaic Side Table

When I look back I think I must have been out of mind to have picked up this little beauty. I think it was just one of those moments where ya just can't find anything else and desperation kicks in. God forbid I should leave the flea market with nothing. Silly I know, but it just feels like a terrific waste of time if I go home empty handed. So home it came. Lovely right?


This was after I applied citra strip to remove a thick coat of chippy, creamy white paint. Stripping turned legs is simply no fun. That "what was I thinking" moment creeps in again.


This is what the drawer front looked like halfway through the stripping process. All together now, ""what was she thinking"????

Finally after this little guy sat in my garage sucking up space for months I decided to paint it bright white and started collecting blue and white china plates to cover the top. I just love this piece now. Blue and white are one of my fave color combos.....crisp and clean! Look at her now...

Easy No Sew Place Mats

For the glue gunner and spray adhesive kinda girl...

A happy accident...I'm at Joanne's and have this "Idaho Potato" burlap and this other kinda elegant looking fabric in my hands. I drop 'em down at the register and they look like they were meant to be together. Elegant meets rustic just look awesome together.

I cut out the black fabric to standard place mat size...14" x 18"....googled that piece of info. Then cut the burlap 12" x 16". I used Loctite Spray Adhesive to put them together. It says it's water and heat resistant...hmmm we shall see when I run them through the washing machine. Added my favorite stencil to the center and done!

Beach Style Nightstand

As you may know or maybe not, one of my dreams is to own a beach house. Nothing fancy...I don't do fancy. It's not going to happen in the upcoming year but a girl can dream, can't she? So this was inspired by my dream which will be a reality someday. Not this year but someday.

I hope you, all of you, who inspire me daily have your dreams come true too!

Shabby Mosaic Lazy Susan

I am almost finished with this and just wanted to share. Isn't that really what blogging is all about? Sharing our passions and getting inspired. For me, that is what it's all about. So, I found this not so pretty looking lazy susan which had these great curvy glass holders that were perfect for serving snacks. The minute I saw it i just knew it had BIG "please mosaic me" potential.

I painted it my favorite ballet pink and gave it a shabby mosaic makeover. Not completely finished yet, got a little side tracked watching the Emmy's. How does that happen? I next to never watch tv...time waster when there is so much more that I'd rather be doing. I should have been grouting but no, got sucked into the pre Emmy interviews and next thing ya know... there's always tomorrow! Here it is with the design laid out and then taped off to grout. Well at least I taped it off and took some pics and even blogged about it. I am not a complete slacker. Doesn't it look so much prettier already?

My New Free Toy

When Gail from My Repurposed Life emailed me to tell me I won the HomeRight Sprayer I couldn't believe it! I couldn't wait to get my hands on it but then it sat for a good month because I was intimidated to give it a try.

I finally pulled it out when a client asked me to do up a French Provincial piece in Gloss Black. I know, you're probably thinking I'm out of my mind to try out my new toy on a client piece. That thought occured to me too. I did however practice on cardboard first. It was easy to use and the finish super smooth. There was little if any over spray too. I thought I would have to fashion some type of spray booth but not the case. I just put down some drop clothes and went to it.

Here's the piece prepped and ready to go. I sanded the heck out of it because gloss paint tends to show every imperfection.

It had that yellowed over time finish, like it sat in a 2 pack a day house for years. The craziest thing is when I started to sand out the scratches on top I unveiled the most beautiful wood. Why, oh why would a furniture manufacturer choose to cover that up??

Anyway, I watered down the paint (Rustoleum Gloss Black) per the HomeRight instructions and also added a little Floetrol. This stuff is great for eliminating brushmarks. Not that I was brushing but figured it couldn't hurt.

The pulls were sprayed metallic silver.

I loved how easy this was to use and will definitely be using it again and again. I thought cleaning it would be a big pain but it was quick and easy!
